Super Dog!

It was 4:00 on a cool Winter afternoon. Super Dog, known in the animal community as SD, was flying around, squinting in the glaring light.  A bird coasted by, and SD tossed out some seeds from his utility belt.

"Looking for something?” asked the bird…

"Someone to help,” said SD…”See anything?"

"YES,” said the bird. “Quick, fly to the city dump…There’s a messed up situation going on and someone might get hurt.”

SD made a sharp turn, and yelped out a quick bark. “Thanks friend!” He said.

...At the dump, SD cruised low over piles of garbage, stacked higher than the tops of buildings. He got to the back row, where there was a collection of broken appliances, and saw a rooster cackling loudly to a duck. “Cockadoodle doo, and NO, you can’t have my lunch meat sandwich. I flew it in from the garbage truck.”

"Quack, quack, quack,” said the duck. “I’m taking it and that’s that. The duck pecked at the sandwich.”

"Back off!” stomped the rooster. “I’m hungry and eating this now! Wings off.”

SD swooped down low, and lifted the rooster into the air with the sandwich…

“Hello sir” said SD. “Looking for a private place for lunch?”

SD spit seeds down to the squawking duck, and carried the rooster to the edge of a wide puddle in a completely different section of the dump.

"Thanks SD!” said the rooster. “Now I can eat my sandwich in peace. That duck was driving me nuts!”

“He was just hungry,” said SD. “That’s not fun either. But those seeds I tossed him should help.”

As SD took off towards home, the rooster flapped his wings, and nodded his thanks. But soon, SD heard loud quacking. The duck was flying after him.

"Calm down friend,” said SD. “You need to go fishing or something.”

“I’m coming after you!” yelled the duck. “I didn’t want those bird seeds…”

Super Dog shot lasers out of his paws, something he only did when nothing else worked. The lasers disrupted the Duck’s flying ability, and he went tumbling into a soft bush, near a box of oatmeal crackers.

"Eat that!” called SD, as he flew away from the scene.

    “Jeez,” he thought. Greedy duck!”

Soon, SD coasted in for a landing at his family home. He slipped out of his cape and utility belt, and hid them behind the shed. Then he trotted in through the doggy door, and walked up to his owner Max for a pat.

“Hi Johnny,” said Max, “what a good boy!”

SD chuckled to himself. If only Max knew that he had a secret life helping people, he’d be stunned. People usually underestimate how capable dogs are, thought SD.

SD went to his dog bed, stretched out, and was soon asleep, dreaming of saving the world.

The end
